Back to my origins in Taiwan, but this time spending time as a tourist instead of visiting family! First stop is the beautiful Sun Moon Lake in Nantou. It is the largest body of water in Taiwan named after the shape of the lake, which is separated into a crescent moon and a sun by Lalu Island in the middle. Peaceful trails and hikes surround the lake, with a notably large complex that reside at the northern shore. This Wen Wu temple houses many statues of Chinese Gods with 2 imposing large stone lions at the front. A must visit if you visit this national scenic area! Next stop is Jiufen in northern Taiwan. Jiufen is a unique mountain town known for its narrow alleyways and hidden passages. Once inside, you are greeted with a miriad of street-food shacks, teahouses, souvenir shops, and old-town architecture. A great place to spend the day and night as the town illuminates the evening with lanterns and lights. ​
