Restaurant Review - Magal BBQ

Another Korean BBQ in town, this time with a bit of a twist.  The grill itself is custom made, incorporating a side dish of egg and kimchee, and some corn.  Not too bad of an idea, however if you don't eat the egg quickly, it will continue to overcook.  Also, the egg is mixed with kimchee, making it too salty and sour for me.  I would much rather have the original steamed fluffy egg that other Korean restaurants usually serve.  The banchan was also just okay, nothing too special and actually limited in variety.  Although, what they did serve was fairly good, especially the kimchee.  As far as the meat goes, they were definitely high quality and tasty, hence no AYCE.  No complaints there except that pricing was a little high.  Service was good as they cook the meats for you, also no complaints there.  Dessert were smores which I hoped would be a bit different since there are other restaurants that do this already.  All in all, I'd give this an average rating, especially since there are so many better Korean bbqs out there.  However, if you are tired of the same kind of Korean BBQ littered on Spring Mountain Road, give this a go.  Find this restaurant here 4240 Spring Mountain Rd. Las Vegas NV 89102

Restaurant Review -  Kkulmat Korean Kitchen

Very new Korean restaurant serving homemade korean dishes.  I really want this place to succeed.  The ladies working were all very nice, and really wanted us to enjoy our meals.  They brought the food quickly, and tended to our every need.  Maybe because it's still so new, but they seem very genuine and mom-like.  The food itself was also very delicious.  Banchan was good, in fact better than some other places.  Many of them were the right sourness and were always refilled when needed.  The meat dumplings were great!  They are homemade and you can tell they did not skimp on the meat.  I was hungry, but feeling for a light noodle soup and found the best choice.  Their chicken noodle soup had a very light but thick broth.  Everything in the bowl was lightly flavored but paring it in a thick broth made it a very unique, hearty, and filling noodle soup.  The spicy beef soup was pretty normal tasting like other restaurants, so nothing too unique about this one.  I liked the quantity of all the dishes and the pricing.  The only criticism is the decor.  I think they are still deciding what to do, but so far it looks more like a cafeteria than a restaurant.  If they can match their decor with their tasty dishes and service, this place is a winner.  5600 Spring Mountain Rd. Restaurant Review - Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak, & Stone Crab

Las Vegas Blvd. dining is always good and bad.  Good in that you know you're going to get very delicious, tasty food, with a great atmosphere.  Bad in that you know you have to pay top dollar to get it.  Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak, & Stone Crab is a good example.  Located at the forum shops lower floor, it's got everything it needs to succeed.  Good location, fresh seafood, and Las Vegas style ambiance.  But you will easily spend over a hundred if not more.  I decided to stick with seafood and save the steak for next time.  They start you out with bread and butter per the usual, then brought out the crab cakes, miso glazed sea bass, and 5 large stone crab pinchers.   The wait time for the food was very short which is a definite plus.  The crab cakes were packed full of chewy crab meat and very filling.  Dipping in the house sauce, tasting like a mix of mayo and wasabi, was already very filling.  Next was the sea bass which was also very soft and fresh but with a hint of miso flavor.  That was paired with only 2 shitake mushrooms and 3 baby bok choys, but found it to be the perfect amount.  And finally the stone crab.  They crack it for you, you just have to peel the shell away.  Very fresh and chewy as well with large pieces of meat that are easily separated from the shell.  No real complaints about the food except this ended up around $150.  Nice quiet booth with dim lighting and very friendly staff and waiters makes this a very nice place to eat for special occasions.  Make a reservation here!  The Forum Shops at Caesars, 3500 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109

Restaurant Review - Marugame Monzo

A new Japanese restaurant specializing in Udon originating from LA.  Not many here in Vegas that can make different styles of udon aside from the usual tempura and nabeyaki.  They match there very unique flavors with hand pulled udon to create a mouth watering feast.  The dragon udon tastes very different than it looks.  It looks to be creamy but in fact has a fiery ramen like flavor.  Very hearty and full meal, and one bowl should be able to satisfy any hunger.  The broth can be very addicting!  The creamy uni udon, although not my favorite, is very tasty.  However, there is a LOT and can be very heavy.  If you love uni, get a bowl.  If not, probably share this with someone.  Braised pork was very soft and tasty as well.  Mushroom salad was just some warm mushrooms with some salad.  I really like the flavors of this restaurant and will definitely come back to try more dishes.  You will get extremely full after eating here from all the creamy sauces.  Prices are decent, parking is horrendous.  In the heart of Chinatown where all the restaurants are.  Check it out at 3889 Spring Mountain Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89102
