Getting a bit more popular here in Vegas, this is a hot pot style restaurant at the bar. This picture is of their steamed meat and veggies however. They serve a bit more than just the shabu shabu which is a plus. Sauces are a wide variety, all with distinct flavors. It's clean and has a great ambience, but more for a date setting then family sit down, as there are no tables. Meat and veggies are fresh and savory. Not much to complain about except the pricing. It's a bit high for what you can make similarly at home. Friendly servers as well as they are a bit more intimate, helping to serve your needs right in front of you. However, there are many other hotpots popping up so competition is fierce. Yojie, Nabe, Chubby Cattle, just to name a few. Find it here, 5808 Spring Mnt Rd STE 103, 89146

Sheena's first Jack-o'-Lantern got a bit of a cataract forming. Oh well, there were some fresh delicious replacement eyeballs just in case. Happy Halloween everyone!
First time to a vegetarian restaurant in my life. Thought I'd try something healthy after watching "What the Health" and "Earthlings". If you haven't seen those documentaries, watch it. But be prepared to see food a little differently. Anyway, this restaurant is Chinese style vegetarian meaning no animal meats and instead, uses soy and rice based products. They mimic food like pork belly, and beef and broccoli, but guarantee no animal products were used. They do a fantastic job in presentation, as each dish looks like the real thing! The taste is also probably as good as you can get, tasting very similar to the actual meat dish, and may actually trick a customer or two if they were not told it is vegetarian only. A little difficult to find, but you'll see other customers there that are very health conscience also eating in wonder how they can make their vegetarian dishes. I give this restaurant a solid A since I've never been to anything like this before. Find it here! 5115 Spring Mountain Rd 203
Mr. Chopstix is a hidden gem of a restaurant, very similar to the Noodle Man restaurant on Rainbow. Both from the outside, it seems like a fast food generic Chinese restaurant. But once you go inside, the clean, modern decor convinces you otherwise. With an open kitchen, you can be sure the dishes are clean. Only about a year old, they serve Taiwanese/Chinese food and have a wide variety of tasty authentic menu items. All the things I tried were very flavorful, delicious and heavy, but just a bit oily. Good and attentive service, pricing is fair, and they also serve boba! Will definitely come back here to try their other dishes.
5-30-17 Update - Came back here with my parents and they agreed this place is good. This time, we learned that about half the menu is catered towards American Chinese food, while the other half is more Chinese authentic. The side dishes are more authentic and would recommend trying those first. Grade still remains at an A-. First year of Springfest right where I work at Boca Park. Fun and games and food and rides! Except the basketball game is rigged. Don't play that game.
One of the few Filipino restaurants here in Las Vegas. And on top of that, one of the best ones. Got off to a slow start however, as the coffee we ordered was cold, service was a little shaky, but soon picked up as I believe the waiter was new and still training. I think the manager of the store took over and was very nice and helpful in ordering the food. If you want large portions, come here. The lechon was pretty much the whole leg of a pig and delicious. The dishes were all flavored very well, and also had a selection of sauces for everything. The decor is modern/urban with a bar right in the center with a good selection of beer. Very clean and spacious inside, and also a karaoke/dance/live music area. Seems to still be a new restaurant but looks like it's picking up. Will definitely come back here with more people. Solid Filipino restaurant here in Las Vegas. Check it out at 2131 Rock Springs Dr.
6-4-17 Update - Went back and got some of the same foods and some new ones. Still delicious and the plates come in large proportions. I recently learned they were on "Dirty Dining" and some of the vegetable they used were not fresh. However, the seem to have cleaned up the act and I would still come back for more. Tinola soup was surprising as it is served green but tastes normal, maybe a bit on the bitter side. Lechon rolls Not sure about this restaurant yet. I will have to come back and try some other dishes. The reason I say that is there seems potential to be great, but there is just something off in everything I tried. The xiao long bao was steamed well, juicy inside, good amount of meat inside, but when dipped in their sauce, the flavor totally changed and didn't quite match. The squid ink fried rice was good, but was not able to taste the squid ink as much as I'd like. The beef rib noodle soup was very good, and unique as it came with a large rib instead of your usual cut up meats. But there was nothing particular special with the taste. From the dishes tried however, it definitely is authentic Chinese food, fancied up. All in all, good restaurant with a lot of menu options so I'll be back! Find it at 3400 S Jones Blvd Ste 16.
Very new Korean restaurant serving homemade korean dishes. I really want this place to succeed. The ladies working were all very nice, and really wanted us to enjoy our meals. They brought the food quickly, and tended to our every need. Maybe because it's still so new, but they seem very genuine and mom-like. The food itself was also very delicious. Banchan was good, in fact better than some other places. Many of them were the right sourness and were always refilled when needed. The meat dumplings were great! They are homemade and you can tell they did not skimp on the meat. I was hungry, but feeling for a light noodle soup and found the best choice. Their chicken noodle soup had a very light but thick broth. Everything in the bowl was lightly flavored but paring it in a thick broth made it a very unique, hearty, and filling noodle soup. The spicy beef soup was pretty normal tasting like other restaurants, so nothing too unique about this one. I liked the quantity of all the dishes and the pricing. The only criticism is the decor. I think they are still deciding what to do, but so far it looks more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. If they can match their decor with their tasty dishes and service, this place is a winner. 5600 Spring Mountain Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89146 Las Vegas Blvd. dining is always good and bad. Good in that you know you're going to get very delicious, tasty food, with a great atmosphere. Bad in that you know you have to pay top dollar to get it. Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak, & Stone Crab is a good example. Located at the forum shops lower floor, it's got everything it needs to succeed. Good location, fresh seafood, and Las Vegas style ambiance. But you will easily spend over a hundred if not more. I decided to stick with seafood and save the steak for next time. They start you out with bread and butter per the usual, then brought out the crab cakes, miso glazed sea bass, and 5 large stone crab pinchers. The wait time for the food was very short which is a definite plus. The crab cakes were packed full of chewy crab meat and very filling. Dipping in the house sauce, tasting like a mix of mayo and wasabi, was already very filling. Next was the sea bass which was also very soft and fresh but with a hint of miso flavor. That was paired with only 2 shitake mushrooms and 3 baby bok choys, but found it to be the perfect amount. And finally the stone crab. They crack it for you, you just have to peel the shell away. Very fresh and chewy as well with large pieces of meat that are easily separated from the shell. No real complaints about the food except this ended up around $150. Nice quiet booth with dim lighting and very friendly staff and waiters makes this a very nice place to eat for special occasions. Make a reservation here!
